Q: Is everything provided at the Chapel? A: Yes, electricity, heating and lighting are all included. Bed linen and towels are also provided. There is also (usually) a supply of tea and coffee stored in the fitted kitchen which includes a new dishwasher, together with washing powder etc., for use in the washing machine, which has its own utility room. Q: What entertainment facilities are there? A: There's TV/VCR/DVD combo system in the open plan lounge, together with a TV and DVD player in the master bedroom. There's a games console, plus several cartridges in the lounge, which should satisfy your urge to play Marble Madness once again (fx: smile). There are also some CDs and tapes in our small library and there's even a video rental store (Blockbuster) in Porthmadog (10 miles away). There's also a quality (Pioneer) hi-fi system in the lounge, so please bring along some of your tapes, DVDs and/or CDs to play! Q: Is there a supermarket near by? A: Yes - there's a handy late-opening Spar shop in Penrhyn (3 miles - 01766-770383), as well as a major Tesco in Porthmadog (10 miles - 0845-677-9813) that's open until 10pm every day except Sunday. Q: I'm disabled - how do I gain access to the Chapel? A: We welcome the disabled - the property was designed to comply fully with the new disabled access regulations and there is ramp access right up to the front door from road level. The open plan ground floor of the property has toilet/washbasin facilities, whilst the lounge area has a sofa bed (linen available on request) if you wish to use this facility. Please call Steve Gold on 0114 266 3063 if you need any more information on this issue. Q: Five star rating? What does that mean? A: Five stars is the highest rating the Welsh TB allocates to holiday properties. Tough new regulations came into force on star ratings in 2006 and we're very proud to say the Chapel has achieved this rating. The property is a luxury self-catering facility that has featured in a Channel 4 Wales (S4C) documentary (click here for details and a range of photos) and has won a tourism award for its high-end facilities. Q: Can we eat out anywhere? A: Yes - there's a pub called the Grapes in the village about 100 yards away, as well as the excellent Oakley Arms about a quarter of mile up the valley towards Penryhn and Porthmadog. There are also excellent pub/eateries in Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog (which has several tasty fish & chip shops!) Q: I see the Chapel can sleep up to eight people; What about the downstairs seating arrangements? A: The open plan lounge has two sofas - one 2/3 seater and one 3/4 seater, plus two comfy armchairs and a `pouffe.' There are also a couple of cushioned chairs, allowing up to 10 people to sit comfortably in the lounge. The open plan kitchen also has seating for up to eight people (including place settings etc). Q: Can the Chapel accommodate more than eight people? A: We cannot encourage this for obvious comfort and dining reasons. There are, however, a couple of sensibly-priced hotels within 100 yards of the Chapel (the Grapes and the Old Rectory) , if extra people are coming on holiday in your family/group. Q: Can I book a short break? A: Of course - please ask us for a quote. Q: Do you offer a reduction for smaller families/groups? A: We certainly do. The Chapel has four bedrooms in total, which sleeps up to eight people in comfort. If you only use one or two bedrooms (i.e. there are four people or less in your family/group) we offer a 20 per cent discount on our normal rates, except during the summer peak times (children's holidays) and at Christmas plus New Year. If you opt for this discount (please use a discount code of TWOBEDROOMS on our bookings form), the two bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor are normally kept locked. Q: Can I stay longer than a week? A: Of course. If you want to stay for more than a week, we simply pro-rata the additional nights at the weekly rate. We have a discount plan in place for two. three and four week rentals. If you want to book for longer or non-standard periods (i.e. other than in multiples of one week), please call Steve Gold on 0114-266-3063 for information. Q: Can I start my holiday on a day other than a Friday? A: Saturday starts and finishes are available on request. During the summer and at Christmas/New Year periods we can also arrange starts/finishes on most days. Please call Steve Gold on 0114-266-3063 for info. Q: Where can I park my car(s)? A: There is ample car parking alongside the Chapel, for up to five cars - perfect for large groups. Q: Is the Chapel secure? A: The Chapel has been designed with security in mind. There is an intruder alarm system, together with high external walls and a lockable main gate. Keys to the gate - and the Chapel - will be supplied to you. If you have kids or are concerned about security, you can lock the main gate and let the kids play on the patio without worrying unduly about them. Q: Is the Chapel suitable for wedding receptions and business events? A: Yes, most certainly. Catering and other business essentials are available on request; Please call Sylvia Dennis on 07970-502706 for conference arrangements and other facilities. Q: I'm planning to bring bicycles/canoes etc., for the kids/ourselves - is this okay? A: It certainly is. You can hide the bikes/canoes etc., round the back of the Chapel near the oil tank (out of sight of the road) and the front gate can be locked at night (or as you wish). Q: How do I pick up and drop off the keys? A: We have a keyholder located close to the Chapel - key pickup is normally around 6pm, and key dropoff (checkout) is normally at 10am. We're flexible, so later key pickups can usually be arranged and, on request, we can also post the keys to you - normally at no extra charge - if this is more convenient, but we do ask that you (a) take care of the keys (see next question) and (b) that you post them back to our office using a signed-for delivery method. Q: What happens if I mislay the keys? A: Please don't. If the keys are lost, the computerised key locks on the Chapel, as well as the locks on the main gate, will have to be changed and new keys distributed to all relevant keyholders, and the cost - around £250.00 - will be charged to the renter. Q: I see your office is in Sheffield - what happens if we have any problems at the Chapel during our stay? A: We have a cleaner nearby and an emergency keyholder in the village, so we can cope with most situations. There is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the property, as well as a Health & Safety-approved first aid kit. We also have an estate manager, Peter Dennis, who is available 24x7 on his mobile - contact details will be supplied to you shortly before your holiday is due to start. Q: Do you have insurance? A: Yes, we have insurance, both buildings and contents, as well as public liability cover. This is normal for any responsible holiday property owner. Details of the public liability insurance are available on request. Q: Do I have to clean the Chapel before I leave? A: Whilst we employ cleaners to ensure the Chapel is up to your expectations, we do ask you to leave the Chapel in a good state. This makes life for our cleaning and laundering team a lot easier, as well as scores you brownie points should you want to stay with us again. If excess cleaning is involved following your stay, this costs us extra and we may have to make an excess cleaning charge. Q: Why do you charge a security deposit? A: Most holiday properties require a refundable security deposit from their customers and we are no exception. Our bookings agency will ask you to pay a security deposit when you make your final payment about 30 days before your holiday is due to start. The security deposit will then be refunded to your card (assuming no deductions etc.) around 15 days after you finish your holiday. If your payment was by cheque, the refund will be also be by cheque. Q: Can we stay on a few days after our holiday is due to end? A: Of course - assuming the property is not already booked, we can usually arrange this over the phone if you give us 24 hours notice. Please call Steve in the office on 0114-266-3063 for details. Q: What time can be arrive (check-in) and what time should we depart (check-out)? A: Normal check-in is at 6pm on the day of arrival, and normal check-out is 10am on the day of departure. If the Chapel does not have guests departing on the morning of the day of your arrival - or arriving on the day of your departure - we can accommodate special requests, but these times are to allow our cleaning team to prepare the property for each set of guests. Thanks for your understanding on this issue. Q: Can I bring my pet(s)? A: We're sorry - no pets are allowed, whether house-trained or not. This is to ensure other guests have a high quality holiday. Q: What about smoking? A: Sorry - the chapel is a no-smoking establishment, with smoke detectors. If you must smoke, please go outside (there is a patio). This helps to ensure other guests have a high quality holiday. If you smoke in the Chapel, it will almost certainly require fumigating, for which we may have to make an excess charge. Q: Can I pay you directly rather than via the agency? A: Of course. We can accept payments by cheque in British pounds and US dollars, and we can accept card payments via our shop, www.thefinefittingcompany.com. Please talk to Steve Gold on 0114-266-3063 for further details. Q: Okay, I like what I see - how do I book? A: We have a 24-hour automated online reservation and booking system available on the pricing and availability option in the above left hand menu bar...: Any other questions?
